CES Electric Corporation Design Build Electrical Contracting and Design Process

We believe that CES Electric Corporation can provide the best engineering and construction documents.  Through our attention to planning, coordination and detail, we create documents that are comprehensive and well thought out.  We create documents that avoid conflicts and solve design problems before we get to the field.

Project Success.

CES Electric Corporation offers electrical, lighting, signal, voice/data communications, audio-video, broadcasting and technology consulting and design. The project management, estimating and foreman staff of CES Electric Corporation has worked on numerous projects of this nature.  We believe that CES Electric Corporation brings a proven and experienced team.

Our Project Approach.

CES Electric Corporation approach to a design-build project is to have our project manager, estimator and lead superintendent work side-by-side with our engineering staff as an integral part of the design and construction team, from the moment the project design starts.  This team will stay together through the end of the project as well as follow up with your company and the building owner for warranty work and to ensure owner satisfaction.

Our Design and Estimating Process.

Our team starts by pro-actively programming the needs of the owner and the project.  We meet with the mechanical designers and discuss loads, equipment and coordinate our work from day one.  During this process, we build design and estimating models for infrastructure and branch systems.  Our estimating models are not broad brush, but include detail take-off estimates, phasing plans and labor hour estimates in order to home in on the most probable electrical construction cost.  These models are tested against the project construction budget.  Design alternatives are brought to the owner with cost differentials in a decision matrix format to allow an ongoing value assessment and value decision-making process that is integral and in step with the design process.  The owner benefits in having fine tuned design parameters and costs early in the project.  We go looking for trouble, up front, and uncover as many issues as possible to avoid surprises later during construction documents or construction.

‘Closing the Loop’ For A Coordinated Set of Documents.

We believe in taking a leadership role in closing the loop on design and construction issues.  We pro-actively communicate with the other design team members and the owner rather than wait to hear from them.  We issue checklists of information we need with due dates.  We confirm information we received from others.  As a result, our final design documents are biddable.  The final documents go through three concurrent quality control checks by the engineer, the CES Electric Corporation project manager and our superintendent.  Our programming, design and coordination process is tightly managed and documented because we do not tolerate large margins of error in our final product.

Project Insurance.

We believe in providing the owner with the industry standard of $2,000,000 each for general and professional liability insurance.  We also believe in upholding our design quality and workmanship so that it never has to be used

Schedule and Budget

At CES Electric Corporation, we believe that the success of a project is in keeping our commitment to schedule and budget.

Meeting Schedule Commitments.

The first step in meeting schedule is to assign proven staffs that have management ability and time commitment to accomplish the project.  The staff we propose for a project can deliver in both of these areas.  We next build a project schedule using Time Line in which we set drop-dead dates for critical issues and decisions that are needed to keep the project on track.  This schedule is formed within the shell of the owner’s overall project schedule.  Our project manager monitors daily and weekly progress and takes action as needed to keep our team on track.  During construction, our superintendent and foreman update the construction schedule and progress of our electrical installation weekly, or daily if required and compute labor forecasts and manpower loading for upcoming tasks.  We continuously look for ways to be more efficient, or help other trades through cooperation in joint scheduling of work to find coordinated efficiencies that bring the project to completion faster. We are a true team player in making the project schedule successful.

Meeting Budget Commitments.

The first step in creating a solid budget is to identify all of the work required for the project.  Our programming effort is at the forefront of this effort to identify the systems, level of quality and quantity of materials and labor for the project.  We build our cost models using the actual cost codes that we use during construction so that we can monitor our actual costs against budget all the way through construction.  The cost model is used to evaluate our design and identify where we need to alter or provide alternatives to stay within our budget commitment.  We believe that detail scope definition up front, a solid cost model and self-monitoring of the scope and budget are the only successful way to ensure that we meet the budget commitments that we make to our client.

Ouality Control Plan

CES Electric Corporation firmly believes control begins with solid understanding of the owner’s needs, on-target estimating / budgeting and well-coordinated design documents.  Our approach to this process includes the following elements:

  • Pro-actively program the job requirements and coordinate with all other trades
  • Present and document our design solutions clearly.
  • Hold regular coordination meetings with owner, architect and design team members.
  • Thoroughly check our design documents and check the design against the owner’s criteria and our cost model.
  • Competitively bidding and purchasing materials.
  • Documentation through meeting minutes, Requests For Information (RFI), submittals and shop drawings, photographic documentation, record drawings and O & M Manuals.
  • Maintain a daily journal of activities during construction.

CES Electric Corporation standard is that every project be trouble free for all parties and that it be completed on schedule and on budget.

CES Electric Corporation Design and Project Management Team

A successful business in electrical contracting is the result of team effort, where the different specialists within the organization pool their collective efforts in order to coordinate designing, estimating, processing, and purchasing with the installation in the field so that maximum productivity can be achieved, with the result that a profit can be made, and the job completed within the limits allowed by the owner.

Coordination of the specialists within the business can be achieved only by having a complete business system that permeates the entire structure of the business. This means that all elements of the business must be defined, coordinated, documented, and transmitted in a form through which employees may understand and implement the plan of operation.

In order for a business to achieve outstanding accomplishments in the service it performs, it is necessary to have an organization composed of individuals properly trained for the task to which they have been assigned and between whom suitable communications are provided so that one specialist can pick up where another leaves off, for the ultimate achievement of company goals. CES Electric Corporation is comprised of those individuals.

Safety Experience

The safety and health of employees at CES Electric Corporation is of paramount importance to the company owners.  It is our policy to provide a safe and healthful workplace with operating practices that meet OSHA and WISHA standards and that ensure a safe job environment and the performance of safe practices by all employees.

Our safety practice is accomplished on projects by means of weekly safety meetings and the filing of monthly safety reports.  CES Electric Corporation is dedicated to ongoing education and safety specific training.

To compliment our written policies and mandatory practices CES Electric Corporation has implemented a drug free work place policy.  This policy includes initial testing for all employees with ongoing random testing.
